"butfirst" has an unfortunate low-brow sound-alike, "butt first", which can 
mean "to act rashly or without consideration" (i.e., thinking with one's 
butt instead of one's head).

I don't know what the right words are, but here's other pairs of words that 
might work:

head/tail
leading/trailing
unfirst/unlast
