The problem with "tick" is most obvious on Android. I think adding yet another "quote like mark" to WikiText is asking for trouble on Android. :-). The thing is that differentiating such marks on a screen a quarter the size of a cheese sandwich is too much of a challenge :-) Putting this in context ... ` - backtick ' - singlequote (straight) ’ - singlequote (curled) ´ - tick (acute accent) Now look at that on a mobile phone :-) Logically I think its fine & works fine. Visually it should be avoided if at all possible? TBH "small screen" render needs to matter as that is what many people use. I'll comment on markup for your great innovation later.
