Hi,

are you using debian or ubuntu? The pngnq from their repositories has
a bug, it states a wrong version number:

#pngnq -V 2  ==> pngnq(null)

Try to install this version with dpkg -i :
http://kopparv34.mine.nu/pngnq_0.5-2_i386.deb
