I have been wanting to do this for quite some time. Now I have done it. http://trac.openstreetmap.org/changeset/10210 Create a new unstable branch of [EMAIL PROTECTED] client in which development can take place. Consider http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/rendering/tilesAtHome the stable branch now applications/rendering/tilesAtHome_unstable is where development will take place and when it is ready it will be merged over into the stable branch.
