For proper rendering of a way there should be at least one node in each tile. 
There is no fixed distance for this as tiles cover different areas depending on 
the latitude. And for diagonal lines there is the added difficulty that a line 
does not intersect each tile at the same ratio.

It is perfectly allright to add nodes to long ways to improve rendering.
