I measured one of my units. Room temp is 23.5C, hottest spot on the heat sink is 58.5C. A rise of 35C over ambient. Your 140F temperature reading is, unfortunately, quite normal. I have considered adding a small fan to the heat sink. These numbers might just prompt me to get off my duff and do so...
