Hi Richard,
As the Thunderbolt is wired as DCE (Data Communictions Equipment A.K.A a modem 
with data out on pin 2 and data in on 3) Pin 6 would be a more appropiate 
choice. It's the "DCE ready" output so should be compatible with a PC. I don't 
know what the current draw of the monitor is, but a bit of series resistance 
and a series diode to the pin would make it pretty bullet proof. Worse case 
would be if you connected it to a item that had pin 6 tied directly to a 
"stiff" -12V supply.

I cut the lead on pin 4 of the RS-232 connector and hooked it to +12 vdc.
That way I eliminate using another supply. Seems to work alright.

Just need to make sure that pin 4 of the Computer's Serial Port doesn't
have a compatibility problem. (Just means I can't hook up a computer to
the T-Bolt if there is).
