I have had two significant lapses in QC from HP, both in HP 10811 oscillators. (out of 5 that I have) Both were never soldered joints in the junction of the varicap diode, a resistor and a cap from the mechanical trim capacitor. There is a teflon mounted ferule which is silver plated, and, apparently for 30 years the mechanical contact was OK, but then it went OC and the electronic frequency control failed. Simple to fix. The serial numbers were very different. If 2 out of five had this problem, how many others are there?
