I don't have experience on this DMM but usually the Ohms sense terminals and the correspondent current source ones are internally connected by resistors that become shorted at the Kelvin connected ends when used in 4 wire connection. If any of this resistors became open you meter will do weird things when in 2 wire Ohms measurements.
