Indeed I've seen USB GPS described as 'useless' in many places.

I wouldn't expect even the LVC to be as accurate as the $1000 atomic clocks you can get.. but then as another poster wrote - how much accuracy do you *need* - the LVC is accurate to 1us, which is far lower than what an for example adsl line will introduce (2ms apparently).
