Turn on clockstats in ntpd and collect some data. Or use your favorite terminal program and record the info. The $GPRMC sentence has an A or V that tells you if the unit is getting a good signal. Other sentences may have some sort of numerical signal quality. I'd have to look it up. The details are in the data sheet. If you can't find one, plot the position.
