It should be fine.

That was actually my approach when I worked on it -- I had power and  
RS232 go into a female RJ45 plug and then just put a regular RJ45  
connector on the GPS18.   The less DB9 plugs you have to put together  
the happier you'll be.  :-)

By the way - as a standing offer then I'm happy to help anyone in the  
U.S.[1] with equipment if they'll help build variations of this that  
we can offer to the pool members.   Contact me off-list if  
interested.  Ideally we'd all have the excellent Meinberg equipment -  
but until then it'd be neat to just get more "pretty decent"  
servers.   :-)
