I haven't gone thru the code with all the detail so sorry if this sounds stupid, but, didn't you reinvent the stock.lot object with your new group object?
On version 4.4 the consumer lot object will dissapear so you could use it there... There's also another issue. This patch affects the stock, mrp and purchase modules. Not everybody needs all of those but you need to have all of them so that the feature works properly.... Shouldn't this be implemented as a new module depending on 'purchase' or at least a patch on the purchase module only? (You know... inheritance, blah, blah, blah ;) ) Anyway I'm going to take a closer look since this looks like a very nice feature.
