Well there's certainly food for thought now...! I suppose the position we are in is the current system (and by system I mean disjointed Access databases) is really showing its weaknesses and I can see the benefit of installing OpenERP and have stock, sales/purchase ordering etc all in one application.
But, as seems to be the general opinion, version 5 looks like it will be a relatively big step in terms of exposure and features. I'm in the same boat as ritchi having bought the OpenERP book but after reading it I'd tend to agree that unless version 5 changes by a huge amount it is still very much applicable. It is encouraging to know that you, Raphaël, are deploying v5 already and while I understand the wisdom in Lionel's argument, I might give version 5 a go with a view to production use by the year end...?
