I can only speak for v4.x for the moment. The GTk+ client works fine if you have a high-speed broadband connection on both sides. Otherwise you might want to stick with the web client. Over the network there is some small delay. It's not exactly like a native intranet app but Tiny has been working on some of the previously identified delay issues and now it's pretty good. As time goes on and network speeds get faster this will only help. The best thing for you to do is to setup a server and test things out in your own environment. Every environment is slightly different so this is really the only way you will know how it will perform for you.
