@vrs thank you for your help and for identifying with my plight. The problems I was experiencing were related to the bzr setup, rather than setting up from the tarball. OpenERP is now running fine from a tarball - mostly. I still cannot get some necessary modules to install, mainly delivery and product variant (forgot the name). They report an error during installation.
@xrg. I cannot be polite, so I'll just say: chill. @moderators. How about setting up a "Troubleshooting" forum with sub forums if you like: Installation, Modules, Customization.
