What i would like is both in fact, let me describe the two systems we would want to use barcodes for.
1. Incoming We manufacture our own goods so we set the barcodes on our incoming goods, product level and box level (say box of 100 products). This barcode is held in openERP for the said product. This means that once a purchase order has been raised and agreed by our manufacturing company (is its own company) we then setup a delivery/packing to bring the goods in. Once delivered i want to be able to scan all boxes in to make a packing for those said boxes (multiple POs). Now i believe this can be done with lots using the a ac_lot_cable module. But will need to look into it further. 2. Outgoing More importantly is sending orders to partners. Where we have a single sales order that needs to be dispatched. We want to be able to bring up the Sales order and then be able to scan all products that appear in that Sales order , which would create a packing. This packing then can be confirmed and goods sent out. This way we verify all goods being sent are the correct ones, as the barcode from the product in the system is matched with that on the product. This is a system we have in place for our current system and it proves useful in terms validating what is sent.
