My first thoughts about it : > - is it more than marketing-ware ? Looking at the demo extensively, its an impressive piece of work. Definitely better laid out and with more thought of ergonomics than Open ERP who CRM is functionally but messy and incoherent in places. Their webmail looks excellent too and is well integrated with CRM. > - is oocrm source code available ? A GOOD question ! - they emblazon their oocrm.com website saying it is, and in emails to me, but when I ask them for the source, they say no, quoting they're in their rights under the GPL ! Perhaps somehow they are - but it very much goes against the beliefs of Open Source at best. Understandably, they wish to make money and retain control, but either code is GPL or it isnt. > - can it be used without a contract with Axelor ? Apparently, from their emails yes. They say I can go elsewhere after the initial support period to any OpenERP partner of my choice. > - if different from OpenERP CRM, will they converge ? I don't know. But they have been looking at vers 6 a lot with a view to integrating OOCRM with vers 6 when its released. They do not say anything about converging with trunk though > - is there a long term roadmap of oocrm ? I haven't seen one. Not to say there isnt, but I haven't seen it. > From my standpoint, diverging from core product must be plainly justified, > because it will be source of trouble and costs soon or late. Last years story > of Axelor is not in favor of oocrm regarding openness of business practices. > hth What was last years story ? Would be interesting to know ? Interesting you say this. I must admit there are some very nice parts of OOcrm that I could really do with, others I do not need at all, but the unopeness and issues with tying myself up to a single vendor 'product' for potentially many years to come is quite offputting.[/quote] -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openobject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=56510#56510 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman2/listinfo/tinyerp-users
