mention it again:
Trosset, Carol. Obstacles to Open Discussion and Critical Thinking: The
Grinnell College Study. Change. v30 n5 p44-49 Sep-Oct 1998.
It's an excellent piece describing a short study at Grinnell College
of students' beliefs about the purpose of classroom discussion. I discuss it
in my Small Group Behavior course in an attempt to dispel the notion that
the purpose of discussion must be consensus.
