Hey Tipsters,

I am looking for some advice from those who teach undergrad biopsych.

I am taking over our undergrad biopsych course in the spring.  Although I have a very good working knowledge of biopsychology, I am not a biopsychologist (I am a cognitive psychologist)... I am using what seems to be a very good textbook (Pinel).  As I began preparing lectures I wondered what kind of problems that I might run into.  Do you find specific problems w/ this class because of its biological nature?  Are there some topics that seem to be more difficult than others?  What do you expect these students to walk away with?  Or, what the heck can I expect?

For some background, the class size will be around 90, and most will be juniors or seniors.  I've been teaching here at SIUE for 4+ years (full-time), so I have a pretty good sense of our students... I am just a little concerned about how skiddish they may be with such a "foreign" class.  I find that my undergrad cognitive students start off a bit skiddish, but by the end, they think cognitive is really neat (and some even think it is useful!).  I am hoping to have the same response from this class...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Steve
