This seems a bit unfair, given Miller's uncommon example of intellectual
honesty in admitting to the failures to replicate and retracting the earlier
claim.

If one looks at the work of Miller and his students/colleagues (e.g., Mowrer,
Brown, Kamin, Solomon), there is an emphasis on the emotional side of
organisms, rather than the calculating-cognitive side.  Not a novel concept:
