Hi,
If you do a PsycInfo search for Jeffrey Edwards you will find several
articles in which he describes appropriate procedures for measuring
congruence or "fit". One that specifically talks about profile similarity
is a 1993 Personnel Psychology article. His articles use examples from I/O
and Org. Behavior, but they apply equally well to any such situation. As a
warning, though, he argues that you shouldn't use profile similarity
indices at all. There are two general approaches (calculate the
correlation between two profiles or calculate difference scores) and he
argues (convincingly) that the results of either are uninterpretable.
