I don't know about you, but I have Thomas held up to ridicule (in sermons,
by my teachers in Catholic school, etc) for about as long as I can remember
being exposed to religion (i.e., pretty much most of my life). In fact,
old Thomas is often used as a parable to get in jabs at us ungodly
scientists - people who actually like so see evidence....
As I grew older, I became more and more convinced that Thomas was my patron
saint. After all - he was the only really rational Apostle. Look at it
from Thomas point of view - people around him were talking crazy! Risen
from the dead? You must be joking! Even in those mysterious times rising
from the dead had too seem pretty far fetched.... So all he does is ask
for a bit of proof - a bit of actual data.... and for this he is ridiculed?
Indeed, science does seem very very very far from religion....
