TIPSfolk, I recently had an article accepted for publication by a journal. In the acceptance letter, they describe charging $18 per page and having to purchase 100 reprints in order to guarantee publication within a year. For the article, it would be about $250ish.
Without paying, the journal describes a backlog of 5 years. I had no idea they charged when I submitted the article. There isn't an incredible urgency to list another publication on my CV, but then again, a publication is a publication. I'm curious to get feedback from anyone else who has been in a similar circumstance. Pay or don't pay? The money would come out of my pocket. Is it just the price of our business? I knew that Psych Reports charges but didn't know of others. Opinions?
