What irritates me (and based on the responses to your posts) and many others on this listserver is YOUR holier than thou attitude. You continuously come across (forgive the quote from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) as though you have vision and the rest of us wear bifocals. If you are really concerned about "the less than cordial and collegial halabaloo," you should look in the mirror and reflect on how you respond to those of us who disagree with you. Your are posting to a psychology teachers listserve. As noted in a previous email, we as trained scientists, have understanding of research methods and statistics, including sampling. An anecdote from a single or few students may be interesting but it provides no usable information about the population. A case study may give us a reason to reflect and go on to determine whether there is a real phenomenon reflected by that person. However, in and of itself, a case study does not provide us with the kind of information you appear to extract. If you are looking for that kind of unqualified support for your anecdotes, you are in the wrong place.
