You're certainly not the only one.  When I've taught the terms
"physiological dependence" and "psychological dependence," I've always
explained to my students that these are silly terms, and that various
aspects of "psychological dependence" (e.g. drug-seeking in the
absence of withdrawal symptoms) are increasingly being shown to have
identifiable neurophysiological correlates.
