There's double page review of eleven books from this year's Einstein
centennial year (commemorating the 1905 papers) in the current Times Higher
Educational Supplement (9 December). The Maric "controversy" is mentioned
in passing, but barely. A book that a few TIPSters might want to delve into
is :

Einstein's Miraculous Year : Five Papers That Changed the Face of Physics
(Paperback)
by John Stachel (Editor), Roger Penrose (Foreword), Albert Einstein.
Amazon price: $11.53

According to the THES, the book contains an essay by Stachel devoted to the
young Einstein. Coming from the general editor of the Collected Papers of
Albert Einstein, it should be invaluable.

Amazon Book Description: After 1905, Einstein's miraculous year, physics
would never be the same again. In those twelve months, Einstein shattered
many cherished scientific beliefs with five extraordinary papers that would
establish him as the world's leading physicist...

But the truth will out. One Amazon reviewer writes: I recently read a much
more informative book "Albert Einstein: The Incorrigible Plagiarist" by
Christopher Jon Bjerknes which tells the truth about Einstein and the 1905
papers Einstein's wife Mileva Maric wrote for him...

One for Stephen:
The New Quotable Einstein (Paperback) by Alice Calaprice, Freeman Dyson
(Foreword), Albert Einstein
Amazon price: $10.17
