Much as I know better than to respond to one of Louis' posts...
Isn't knowledge of the topic one of those skills? And don't PhDs (on avaerage) have more of it than non-PhDs? (If not, then why would people bother to get PhDs? Is the PhD just a scam?) So, other things being equal, wouldn't PhDs make better college teachers (on average) than non-PhDs?
