Montreal is the only city in the world in which the sun sets in the 
north. I only discovered that this was unusual after I moved away and 
found it doesn't work that way elsewhere.

I can confirm this. I used to live on a "north-south" street in Montreal and the sun set right at the top of the street every night. Very odd (until you figure out the "natural" geography of old "Lower Canada").
