On Tue, 3 Apr 2007, Michael Scoles went:

According to Kirk's (1995) Experimental design: Procedures for the
behavioral sciences, "Scheff?'s procedure is always congruent with the
omnibus F test. If the omnibus F test is significant, there is at least
one contrast among the means that is significant according to Scheff?s
test, and vice versa." (p. 155)

Interesting! I have a much older version of the Kirk book (from 1968,
when Kirk was still commanding the Enterprise), which doesn't say
that.

Rick, use the Scheffe procedure to make some complex comparisons and
tell us what happens!
