Many excellent points except my sense is that hiring
philosophies/perspectives for community colleges are changing. For better
or worse, many now prefer a candidate with a Ph.D.  They don't require it
in their job description but from personal experience as well as
discussions with colleagues at other community colleges, candidates with a
doctorate have a distinct advantage.
