It would seem that contestants in olympic events would have problems if the Olympics were designed by hard core experimental psychologidts.There is no randomization of comtestants.And if we were to use a randomized block design or a match design,the parameters would still be uneven in some events.After all Michael Phelps has a physical advantage re aqua adaptation. And there is some doubt as to the age equivalence of some of the Chinese competitors. I assume since the best competes with the best then non-parametric stats will do the job.
