Michael- The "draw" in boxing is random. I think, but haven't checked, that
heats etc in many sports are also not ranked.

Subject: [tips] Olympics/Experimental design

It would seem that contestants in olympic events would have problems if the
Olympics were designed by hard core experimental psychologidts. There is no
randomization
of comtestants. And if we were to use a randomized block design or a match
design, the parameters would still be uneven in some events. After all Michael
Phelps has a physical advantage re aqua adaptation. And there is some doubt as
to the age equivalence of some of the Chinese competitors. I assume since the
best competes with the best then non-parametric stats will do the job.

Send me something.
