I was listening this week to "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me", a radio programme on the USA national public radio network, which combines witty comment with a current events quiz. I love the programme (you can catch it at http://www.npr.org/programs/waitwait/archives.html).
In the course of the quiz, they asked a contestant what phobia Freud had. The correct answer, they claimed, was that he was afraid of ferns. Ferns???? I'm aware that Freud was a very strange man, but this is too much. Can it possibly be true? Hmm. If we only had a Freud scholar on this list...
