I had a black middle class friend who was criticizing blacks for their lower class values and behaviors. I told him he had accidental assumed that color was the cause of lower class values. He may have been black on the outside but he was white middle class on the inside. He was also a strong Republican. This is unpleasant situation. Jesse Jackson said while walking at night he was relieved that a white person was following him rather than a black person. Again the error. I had a similar experience being the only white (America Indian) face in a sea of black faces at a friends funeral. People are people.
So psychology is connected to and is of important value to all human beings. Blacks are humans. Color is a social invention that is not true. Generalizations based on color is not particularly accurate. Interestingly enough; that main effects statistically are of more import than interaction effects and that internal validity of experimental procedures presupposes external validity are other ideas that fuel the FEE. Eurocentric psychology fits well within the Eurocentric paradigm with its penchant for a)illusory self-improvement b) independence c) competitiveness d) the functional autonomy of ideational delights e)individualistic grandstanding F) the elevation of intellectual activity to higher standards than the other human survival attributes The African-American paradigm is more collectivisric in orientation. The Eurocentric individualistic -African American collectivistic dichotomy is real.Howver, the FEE is that the latter could be construed as a deficency, where in reality both paradigms could be viewed as "deficit neutral" It is assumed that as nations become more interdependent ,the Eurocentric paradigm will be,ironically, scientifically challenged.
