Mike: I like to refer to Psychology as a domesticated science.Domestication is
a very critical in comprehending human behavior since humans the most
domesticated species on the planet.Usually domestics have lots of time on their
hands since they are not usually pre-occupied with the other factors
guaranteeing their viability. So there are lots of free time for other
pursuits.I personally believe that human evolution probably happened by chance
and the world would follow natural paths without us. The evolution of the
intellectual side of the brain was also a chance event. You may want to consult
a work titled the "The evolutional of consciousness......bicameral mind" by
Julian Jaynes.
The motivation for learning activities is another aspect of our domesticated
heritage.In rea;ity "learning" is unnatural.
Fixed action patterns rules in the non domesticated world.
