The Nobel Committee has to work by the mandate laid out in the Nobel bequest. It does not include psychology or any other social/behavioral science (the economics prize, technically, is not a Nobel. It was not in the bequest and it is funded by the Bank of Sweden, not the Nobel committee). Ludy Benjamin wrote a great little paper about behavioral scientists who have been nominated and who have won Nobels (in other categories). I think it was in American Psychologist, but I can't find the exact reference now. There was an interview with him on Psychology Today, which can be read here: http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/200401/nobel-prize-psychology Chris -- Christopher D.
