Ok folks.  I really tried to keep my mouth shut on this one, but I just
have to say something.

>From a classical conditioning perspective **any** ink color can acquire
negative connotations if the ink color is repeatedly and consistently
paired with negative feedback such as comments and corrections on papers.
Several of the faculty at SVC grade in different colors (I use pink, bright
pink) and the students do acquire negative reactions to the colors.
Students have told me that, after taking 2 or 3 of my classes, they do have
a negative reaction to pink ink.

I guess the moral of my story is that professors can't completely remove
students' negative reactions by changing to a different ink color.
Eventually students will learn to react negatively to other colors.
