Oh, Sharon, here I am in my office gathering my stuff, thinking about who
will be in the workshop, etc.
And, several things struck me.
1. We are social beings. That seems in our educational system we ought
to develop the ideal of interdependence as much as independence.
2. What great joys or sorrows do not come in our relationships with other
people. Even classroom grades involve a relationship between prof and
student.
3. Quality of life is by nature interdependence, meaning there is truly
no such thing as a self-=made person
4. Independence, strength of charactrer to rise above the scripting by
others is a preparation for interdependence.
5. Developing interdependence creates a whole new way of defining what is
important.
6. A sense of family empowers us to create relationships rich in love,
care, trust, friendship, communication, authenticity.
7. A sense of family create powerful communities, building on the
strength of individual members, that are greater than the sum of the
individuals.
8. Community creates a condition that builds independence.
9. Stop and think how relationships with other people affect our time and
quality of life and profession. Is it, and should it be, any different
with students?
10. A sense of family, supporting and encouraging, helps overcome poor
communication and interaction, miscommunication, misunderstanding, lack of
clarity, politiking, blaming, backbiting, accusing, confessing at the
expense of talent, potential, ability, imagination, creativity,
enthusiasm, confidence, trust, respect.
Back to work......
Make it a good day.
