There is some irony in posting this response to a newsgroup that
is largely concerned with how to better instruct students in
scientific psychology so that these incorrect attitudes and
beliefs are _less_ likely to persist in students. Perhaps part
of our difficulty is that too many of our students are taken
history courses that explicitly endorse views that contradict
those many psychology teachers are trying to promote?
