I'm not sure I agree.  I had to drag out the two examples
I mentioned; I couldn't remember who had written either
book.  I remembered the ads, but not the book.  So, the
ad didn't really help sell the book to me.  I see lots of
ads like this on TV as well; I remember the basics of the
ad, but sometimes can't remember what product was being
advertised.  Right now, Gilbert Godfried is 'voicing' a
'shadow puppet' head on a series of commercials.  My
daughter asked me the other day what they were selling,
and I couldn't remember.  I think it's fast food, but
I can't be sure.
