Curious about Robert Spitzer�s widely reported study of  �200 Subjects Who
Claim to Have Changed Their Sexual Orientation from Homosexual to
Heterosexual,� I obtained a copy last weekend, drafted a synopsis and some
reflections for my file, and then had a cordial exchange of  e-mails with
him. 

It occurs to me that this study offers a teachable moment, an opportune
example
for some interesting class discussion that aims to sharpen critical thinking. 
One could describe the study to a class, and then ask: 1) What does this study
tell us?  2) What does it not tell us?  3) What sort of research might help
resolve the controversy over whether sexual reorientation is a realistic
possibility for those motivated to change their sexual orientation?
