Every couple of decades NYU finds itself in some sort of crisis. This
has been true since the university's founding in 1831, it's near bankruptcy
in 1880s, it's money problems in the later 1960s which forced it
to sell its Bronx campus to CUNY (now Bronx Community College),
and recent problems with the economic downturn, problems with
opening campuses around the world, and problems in expanding
around the Washington Square Campus. Though I do find the
NY Post useful for some things (like lining the bottom of birdcages),
I don't usually rely upon it for news (though they do have the snappy
headlines from time to time like "Headless Body Found in Topless Joint"),
so I suggest that you get the story elsewhere like the following:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/10/nyregion/john-sexton-is-tested-by-nyu-faculty.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

A couple of things to remember: NYU is composed of about 14
units (I lose count and don't know whether the new foreign units
should be included in the count) but only the faculty of the School
of Arts and Science (combined undergraduate and graduate) is
holding the no confidence vote. As mentioned in the NY Times
article, Tony Movshon, who people in perception may know because
of his work in vision research, is supporting Sexton and Tony has
a lot of influence. The board of trustees also support Sexton which
has lead many at NYU wondering what's the point outside of
publicizing the problems. Then again, there may be a lot of people
who think that following Bluto Blutarsky's advice is worthwhile in
this situation (for those of you who are unfamiliar with the movie
"Animal House", see:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077975/quotes?ref_=tt_trv_qu
and search for "Pearl Harbor", about half way down the page).
