Finally, it is good to model to students that it is proper to speak truth
to
power, if for no other reason than to make sure that truth is spoken.
NYU has a long history where this has been attempted, perhaps most
spectacularly in the 1960 with the antiwar protests. And more recently
with the elimination of the graduate student union by then COO Jack Lew,
our current secretary of the treasury; see:

And then there is the issue of Lews' severance package from NYU
