Back in the day, no. I had heard of the group but nothing
they did stands out in my memory (back in the late 1960s and
1970s I listened to WNEW-FM in NYC which had an "eclectic"
playlist though perhaps not as wide-ranging as some college
radio stations). In response to your statement, I went over to
Amazon to listen to the 30 second snippets they make available
for albums and I could not recognize anything by Gentle Giant.
But, some of what I heard and what I've read on Wikipedia
suggest spending some time listening to them, at least the early
stuff.
