I have 2 stand alone Tivo's that I'm using with Comcast digital cable. The older Tivo is a series 1 and I have had it for over 3 years. I bought the lifetime subscription for it shortly after I got it. The second Tivo is a Pioneer 810H that records programs to dvds. I've also used it to transfer video tapes to dvds. I am paying for its subscription by the month.
Obviously I love my Tivos or I would not have 2, one on each TV. The only downside I can see is the inability to record HDTV signals if I opt to subscribe to HDTV. I am hoping that Tivo will eventually make an HDTV version of its stand alone. I can't have Direct TV because I live in a apt style condo and can't have a dish on the building. ----- Original Message ----- From: seamonkeycheff To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2005 3:49 PM Subject: [TiVo Central] hello hi I have been seriously considering a TiVo for a while...that's right..I do not have one yet...but that's why I joined this group. You see,I have already been to the official TiVo web page and have read up on the virtues of the TiVo,but I prefer word of mouth as to why I should own a TiVo.<--ok..that seems a little lame,TiVos eliminate human error in recording time....but what I want to know is what are the limitations of a TiVo and do the benefits out weigh the limits,or even the price tag and subscription price?
