I have two TIVO's now. First TIVO is a series one upgraded with a 100meg HD which gives me like 151 hours on basic. Most shows are recorded on basic as my 19" TV's it's fine. Sports are recorded on high, and sci-fi movies on Medium. At Medium I cannot see any jpg artifacts.
The second is a stock Series 2, waiting on the rebate I might upgrade the hard drive on it when the warranty expires. My wife copies shows from the Tivo to her computer and watches them while scrapbooking. Thinks it's great. It is great, because then I DON"T HAVE TO WATCH THEM. :) Eventually I will replace the series 1 with a series 3 and the cable card TIVO. The economics for me: I save about $15.00 a month in movie rentals, there is so much to watch why rent movies, and the kids have shows to watch. I paid lifetime on the series 2, this dropped the fee on my series one to $6.95 a month. I could sell the series 2 and get back some of my money. A Cable DVR you NEVER OWN, you rent FOREVER, so even at $100 then $300 for lifetime. A cable company DVR will then cost me more in 40 months. Offer less features, not work as well (have a office co-worker with Comcast HD unit that he still hates after 2 months), but he suffers due to a plasma HD. :) TIVO has changed my families lives. You don't have to worry about what day it is, what time it is, or what show is on. It will just be there when you are ready. Alan ------------------------ Yahoo!
