I understand that a wireless network bandwidth is shared (like a hub), not switched or dedicated
I have two Humax 80 hour series 2 Tivo's. (T800, is it?) To summarize (briefly, and possibly inaccurately) the thread to this point: The actual throughput bottleneck isn't the wireless network or even the USB port on the TiVo. It's the TiVo processor itself, which has to do quite a lot of work when passing network data. The TiVo wireless G adapter is faster because it has technology to offload much work from the main TiVo unit. To my knowledge there's not a TiVo wired adapter that does the same. So I'm wondering how a 3rd party wired adapter would perform next to a TiVo G adapter. The TiVo G is hardware optimized, but the wired would have less overhead (wireless encryption.) Maybe I should have asked it another way. I know wired adapters are faster than wireless, but which is better for my TiVo? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
