My Tivo is dead! Well, I think it is. I've been having HD problems for awhile, but never got around to getting a new HD. Now the Tivo won't start up, it gives me a green screen that says "The DVR has detected a serious problem and is now attempting to fix it." I've had that happen before, but it always 'fixed it' 'cause it would then boot up. Now it just keeps trying to re-boot but just comes back to the warning screen.
Anyway, the point is that I now need a new HD but I have no idea on how to go about installing one. I mean, I can physically instal the HD, but how do you make it work once it's in the unit? Also, is there any way to recover the programs that are on the old HD? And lastly, where is a good place to get a new HD? Does it have to be specific to Tivo, or will any HD work? Is there one kind/brand/type that works better? Sorry for all the questions! But I hope someone can help me with this. Thank you
