I forget, you have a Series2 box, right? So you just need a USB
network adapter for the TiVo (wired or WiFi). If you don't already
have a router for your DSL, you'd need one - and a WiFi access point
if you want to use WiFi and don't have one already.

And the networking is independent of the modem.

Well, the two models sold now are the S2DT and S3. The S3 is clearly
the nicer box, and I love mine, but you just missed the $400 promo
that ended Father's Day. So now the best price I know of is $500 for
a refurbished unit from TiVo.com.

There will be a lower priced HD box coming out later this year.

The S2DT is still a nice box, it just doesn't do HD like the S3 and it
is only dual-tuner for analog cable channels. Digital channels are
still one-at-a-time with an external cable box. The S3 handles NTSC &
ATSC antenna and analog and digital cable (with CableCARD), while the
S2DT handles analog and digital cable (with a cable box).

If you have an S1 or S2 right now, the S2DT is a step up - another
tuner for analog channels, built-in wired Ethernet port, faster
processor, more memory.

And the good news is that TiVo is selling 80-hour S2DT boxes for $50.
Sure, it is a refurb, but I don't think that's so bad.

I think we went over this before and you'd purchased before that
restriction was added to the subscriptions.

No problem.
